Stop Kudankulam Nuclear Plant – Stop the police terror
The situation at Kudankulam has turned from worse to ugly. The state is determined to drown the three decade long peaceful protest in blood. Once the Chennai high court on 31st August, gave the green signal to fill the nuclear reactor with fuel, the valiant anti-nuclear fighters of Idinthakarai and surrounding villages decided to step up their struggle to a do or die battle.
Tens of thousands of people from the 18 villages surrounding Koodankulam whose livelihood will be affected the most by the Kudankulam nuclear plant, marched along the shores toward the nuclear plant on September 9th . They were stopped before 500 meters from the nuclear plant by armed policemen. 10 companies of police (4000 police men) with the task of breaking the will of the non-violent protesters have been pressed into service.
The protesting people comprising of women and children camped that night on the shores. They demanded the planned fuel loading in the reactor to be stopped immediately. They also demanded prohibitory orders imposed in the entire area for last several months be revoked, so that people from neighboring villages could visit them without fear and bring food and water.
At 10:30 Am on September 10th, Police forces moved inside the siege area and also resorted to baton charge, which was resisted by people. A large riot-gear bedecked police force was in the front-line threatening the people and tear gas lobbers were on stand-by. Police continued to intimidate the people by moving closer, swaying batons. Officials even threatened with naval intervention.
Meanwhile in Various cities of Tamilnadu and Kerala solidarity protests were organised. In Chennai, the students of the Nandanam Government Arts College Spontaneously started a strike in support of the protestors who were facing the repression of the state machinery! Organisersers including Thirumurugan Gandhi of the May 17 Movement were arrested.
Around 12:00 PM at Kudankulam the Police attacked the protesters and beat them up and tear gas shells were lobbed. Hemmed in between armed police and the sea some jump into the sea. Sahaya Initha, the councilor of 13th ward, got severely injured. Several children fainted due to tear gas used by the police. Children who took shelter in the school were surrounded by police. 150 people have started a indefinite fast in St. Lourdes Church and nearly 2000 police have gathered intimidating them.
Media was not allowed to enter into the region and the media people who were already covering the incident were severely attacked by the police. Sathyam TV team at Kudankulam were thrown into the sea by policemen and Times of India reporter’s head was broken during the lathi charge. The camera man from TIMES NOW channel was beaten up so that the violence by the government would not be covered by the Press. All other reporters were chased away by the police.
At around 6:30 PM the police entered the Idinthakarai tsunami village. With the target of arresting PMANE leaders They went house by house search, vandalising and brutalising the women and children. The agitation has spread to near by districts also. In Tuticorin district, one person Antony Samy; Aged 40 was killed when police fired into a crowd of fishermen who were protesting against the nuclear plant.
The governments at the centre, state and the judiciary are hell bent on commissioning the monster killer Nuclear Plant come what may. It is a shame hat this country India calls itself a Democratic Republic with out an iota of respect for the peoples wishes and opinions

We demand that the government heed to the sane voice of the anti-nuclear movement and immediately stop the killer project of nuclearisation of India, which is bound put the people, flora and fauna, the fragile environment and the other species in irrevocable danger.

கூடங்குளம் அணுஉலையை மூடு – காவல்துறை அத்துமீறலை நிறுத்து
கூடங்குளத்தின் நிலைமை மேலும் மோசமடைந்துள்ளது. 30 ஆண்டு கால அறவழிப் போராட்டத்தை ரத்தத்தில் தோய்த்து முடிவுக்கு கொண்டுவர மத்திய மாநில அரசுகள் முயன்று வருகின்றன. ஆகத்து 31 அன்று சென்னை உயர்நீதிமன்றம் அணுஉலையில் எரிபொருள் நிரப்ப அனுமதி அளித்ததையடுத்து, இடிந்தகரை மற்றும் அதைச் சுற்றியுள்ள கிராம மக்கள், அணுஉலையில் எரிபொருள் நிரப்புவதைத் தடுத்து நிறுத்த வலியுறுத்தி வாழ்வா சாவா எனும் போராட்டத்தில் இறங்கினர்.
கூடங்குளம் அணுஉலையினால் நேரடியாக பாதிக்கப்படக்கூடிய இடிந்தகரை மற்றும் அதைச்சுற்றியுள்ள 18 கிராமங்களைச் சேர்ந்த மக்கள் செப்.-9 ஆம் தேதி அணுஉலையை நோக்கி கடற்கரையோரமாக அணிவகுத்துச் சென்றனர். ஆயுதம் ஏந்திய காவல்துறையினரால் அவர்கள் உலைக்கு 500 மீட்டருக்கு அப்பால் தடுத்து நிறுத்தப்பட்டனர். யார்க்கும் எதற்கும் பணியாமல் உத்வேகத்துடன் அணுசக்திக்கு எதிராக நடந்து வரும் போராட்டத்தை ஒடுக்க நாலாயிரத்திற்கும் மேற்பட்ட காவலர்கள் குவிக்கப்பட்டனர்.
காவல்துறையால் தடுக்கப்பட்ட பெண்கள் குழந்தைகள் உட்பட அனைத்து கிராம் மக்களும் அன்றிறவு கடற்கரையிலேயே முகாமிட்டனர். அணுஉலையில் எரிபொருள் நிரப்பும் பணியை உடனே நிறுத்த வேண்டும் என்ற கோரிக்கையை முழங்கினர். மேலும் அண்டை கிராமத்திலிருந்து மக்கள் இயல்பாக வந்து செல்ல முடியாத வண்ணம் பல மாதங்களாக இயல்பில் இருக்கும் தடை உத்தரவையும் திரும்பப்பெற வேண்டும் எனவும் அவர்கள் கோரிக்கை விடுத்தனர்.
செப்.-12 காலை 10.30 மணிக்கு காவல்துறையினர் மக்கள் முற்றுகையிட்டிருக்கும் இடத்திற்குள் நுழைந்து தாக்குதல் நடத்த ஆயத்தமாகினர். இதை எதிர்க்க முனைந்த மக்கள் மீது தாக்குதல் நடத்த பெரிய படை முன்னணியில் நிறுத்துப்பட்டிருந்தது. கண்ணீர் புகை குண்டுகளை வீசவும் தயாராக இருந்தனர். காவல்துறை லத்தியைக் காட்டி மிரட்டிக்கொண்டே மக்களை நோக்கி மேலும் முன்னேறத் தொடங்கியது. கடற்படை மூலம் கடல்வழியாகவும் மக்களை நெருக்கத்தொடங்கினர்.
இதே நேரத்தில் தமிழகத்திலும் கேரளத்திலும் பல இடங்களில் கூடங்குளம் மக்களுக்கு ஆதரவாக போராட்டங்கள் நடத்தப்பட்டன. சென்னை நந்தனம் அரசுக்கலைக் கல்லூரி மாணவர்கள் கூடங்குளத்தில் நடக்கும் அரச வன்முறைக்கு எதிராக வகுப்புகளை புறக்கணித்து போராட்டத்தை தொடங்கினர். மே 17 இயக்க ஒருங்கிணைப்பாளர் தோழர் திருமுருகன் உட்பட சிலர் காவல்துறையால் கைது செய்யப்பட்டனர்.
நண்பகல் 12 மணிக்கு கூடங்குளத்தில் போராட்டக்காரர்கள் மீது காவல்துறை தாக்குதல் நடத்தத் தொடங்கியது. காவல்துறையின் கொலைவெறித் தாக்குதலை கண்டு சிதறி ஓடிய மக்களின் மீது கண்ணீர்புகைக் குண்டு வீசி மேலும் கலவரத்திற்குள்ளாக்கியது. காவல்துறை மக்களை கடலை நோக்கி நெருக்க நெருக்க மக்களில் சிலர் கடலுக்குள் தஞ்சம் புகுந்தனர். இந்த தாக்குதலில் 13 வது வார்ட் கவுன்சிலர் சகாய இனிதா பலத்த காயமடைந்தார். பல குழந்தைகள் மயக்கமுற்று விழுந்தனர். பள்ளிகளில் தஞ்சமடைந்த சிறார்கள் காவல்துறையால் சுற்றி வளைக்கப்பட்டனர். இதன் எதிரொலியாக 150 பேர் லூர்து மாதா ஆலயத்தில் காலவரையற்ற உண்ணாநிலைப் போராட்டத்தில் இறங்கினர். 2000 த்திற்கும் மேற்பட்ட காவலர்கள் அங்கும் குவிந்தனர்.
ஊடகத்தை சேர்ந்த யாரும் கூடங்குளத்திற்குள் அனுமதிக்கப்படவில்லை. ஏற்கனவே அங்கு பணியில் இருந்த ஊடகவியலாளர்கள் காவல்துறையால் அனைவரும் கடுமையாக தாக்கப்பட்டனர். மாலை 6.30 மணிக்கு காவல்துறை இடிந்தகரை கிராமத்திற்குள் நுழைந்தது. போராட்டக்குழு தலைவர்களை கைது செய்யும் நோக்கில் வீடு வீடாகச் சென்று பெண்களையும் குழந்தைகளையும் மிரட்டியது. போராட்டம் அண்டை மாவட்டங்களுக்கும் பரவியது. தூத்துக்குடியில் மீனவர்கள் நடத்திய போராட்டத்தில் காவல்துறை துப்பாக்கிச்சூடு நடத்தியதில் அந்தோணிசாமி(40) என்ற மீனவர் உயிரிழந்தார்.
மத்திய மாநில அரசுகளும் நீதித்துறையும் அணுஉலையை எப்படியேனும் நிறுவியே தீரவேண்டும் என்பதில் முனைப்பாக உள்ளது. மக்களின் கருத்துக்கு சற்றும் செவிசாய்க்க விருப்பமில்லாத இந்த நாட்டை சனநாயக குடியரசு எனச்சொல்வது வெட்கக்கேடானது.
புதிய சோசலிச மாற்று , மே 17 இயக்கம், தமிழ் ஒருங்கமைப்பு, சனநாயக மீட்பு அமைப்பு, கர்நாடக தமிழ் மக்கள் இயக்கம், சுவாபிமானி தலித்திய சக்தி ஆகிய இயக்கங்களுடன் இன்னும் சில இயக்கங்களும் பல மனித உரிமை ஆர்வலர்களும் மக்களுக்கு எதிரான இந்த அரச வன்முறையை வன்மையாக கண்டிப்பதுடன்,
கூடங்குளத்தில் நடக்கும் வன்முறையை உடனே நிறுத்த வேண்டும்.
காவல்துறையை உடனே திரும்பப்பெற்று அங்கு இயல்புநிலை திரும்பச்செய்ய வேண்டும்.
மக்களுக்கு ஆதரவாக இருக்கும் செயற்பாட்டாளர்களை துன்புறுத்துவதை நிறுத்த வேண்டும்.
அரசு அதன் மக்களின் ஈனக்குரலுக்கு செவி சாய்த்து, மக்களையும் இயற்கையையும் வாழ்வெளியையும் சரிசெய்ய முடியாததொரு ஆபத்திற்கு இட்டுச்செல்லும் இந்த அணு திட்டங்களை உடனே கைவிட வேண்டும் என இந்த அரசை கோருகிறோம்.
