Show solidarity with Koodangkulam neighbours

Tamil Solidarity will participate in the NO NUCLEAR POWER PLANT IN KOODANKULAM! protest at the High Commission of India, Aldwych, London, WC2B on Friday 18th May 2012 at 4-7PM.

South Asia Solidarity Group, Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, South West Against Nuclear and Foil Vedanta have called this protest.

We urge all Tamil Solidarity supporters to give support to the People’s Movement Against Nuclear Energy (PMANE) and local residents near the Koodangkulam Power Plant who have faced intimidation, harassment, imprisonment, and false charges. Tamil Solidarity in Tamil Nadu has worked with and supporting the campaign.

Please send letters of protest to the India authorities:

* Calling on the Indian authorities not to arrest the peaceful protestors and to drop charges against them which are false;
* Calling on the Indian authorities to release the two remaining peaceful protestors currently in detention;
* Calling on the Indian authorities to immediately end restrictions on the freedom of movement of those seeking to enter or exit Idinthakarai village and respect the protestors’ rights to freedom of expression and assembly in accordance with India’s obligations under international law;
* No to nuclear power. Solidarity with all those fighting the threat to health posed by nuclear power in the interest of profit;
